MIPS is a state-wide virtual school in Michigan, which means we accept students from anywhere in the state. We have drop-in Learning Labs for added in-person support (or as just a quiet, relaxing place to work), but attendance isn’t mandatory…our labs are simply there if you need them.
We currently have labs in Saginaw, Davison, Rochester, and Detroit. Learn more about our labs here.
The easiest way is online at: miprepschool.org/enroll
The process is intuitive, but if you hit any snags along the way, feel free to give us a call any time at 248-289-5521. We’re happy to help!
• Birth Certificate
• Parent ID
• Proof of residency
• Copy of transcripts (we’ll help you retrieve this from your prior district)
• Copy of IEP, if student has one
We want to make the process as simple as possible for you. If you have any questions about what’s required, contact registrar@miprepschool.org
Step 2: Once we have all your required documents, as well as transcripts/IEP/report card from previous school, we’ll finalize your enrollment and notify you of approval. If your student has an IEP, they’ll be contacted by our Special Education department before the enrollment is finalized. Your Mentor teacher will contact you the day after approval to begin orientation and assessments.
We’re not currently enrolling, but if you complete an interest form here, we’ll reach out as soon as our application reopens in January for mid-year enrollment.
The best way to submit your documents is to upload them directly into your application. This keeps the enrollment process running along quickly and smoothly.
However, we understand that sometimes it can take a little longer to collect the required documentation. Once you locate your documents, you can email pictures of them to: registrar@miprepschool.org
MIPS is fully accredited by Cognia (formerly known as AdvancEd) and the Michigan Department of Education. Our credits transfer out to other schools, and our graduates have gone on to attend major colleges and universities like Notre Dame, Wayne State, U of M, or MSU. We’re also NCAA and NAIA approved as an online course provider for college-bound student athletes.
Classes are open 24/7. That means you can work at whatever time works for you.
Our Drop-in Learning Labs are generally open Tuesday (9-4), Wednesday (10-4), and Thursday (9-4). Any irregular hours (e.g. snow days, summer hours) will be on our school calendar, or announced via email (if the change is not scheduled in advance).
Our phone lines are nearly always open and we will respond to all inquiries in a timely matter.
Yes – we require the MSTEP and SAT (depending on grade level). You can read more about testing in our Assessments Manual.
Our learning labs are local MIPS drop-in study labs. We think it’s extremely important for virtual students to know that they’re connected, and that they can get the support they need, when they need it.
Our labs have computers, teachers, coffee, snacks, etc. All the good stuff. It’s a calm, comfortable place where you can hunker down and get things done. If you have questions about your school work, the Labs are a place where you can talk face-to-face with a teacher. If you live near one of our labs, stop by and say hello! We’d love to have you.
